Thailand World Superbike wildcard rider Thitipong Warokorn has undergone a successful surgery in Bangkok after suffering two broken vertebrae in a nasty crash during the sprint race.
Sunday morning’s sprint race at Buriram was red flagged after Warokorn was involved in an accident with Leon Camier. The Thai rider suffered head and chest injuries as well as concussion and after being assessed by the medical team in Buriram he was flown to Bangkok for surgery on two broken vertebra, 4th and 5th thoracic vertebrae. The medical team confirmed he had not suffered damage to his spinal cord.
Having undergone surgery on Monday (March 18), Warokorn’s Kawasaki Thailand Racing team has confirmed the rider’s body and sensory systems are responding and he will remain under observation in hospital for the coming days.
Moriwaki-Althea Honda’s Camier suffered a right knee sprain and tibial spine avulsion after crashing when he accidentally hit Warokorn on track who had come off directly in front of him.

The British rider has returned to his home in Andorra to be checked over by his doctor before setting out his recovery plan.
