Carl Fogarty swaps motorcycles for single-seater in race against Martin Brundle’s son
Former WorldSBK champion Carl Fogarty has taken on Martin Brundle’s son, Alex, over three one-lap runs in three different four-wheelers, including a single-seater.

Former four-time WorldSBK champion Carl Fogarty has made a surprise race track return, swapping bikes for cars against Alex Brundle.
The British motorcycle legend went up against Brundle, son of ex-Formula 1 driver and current Sky Sports F1 commentator, Martin Brundle, at the Bedford Autodrome.
The pair had three four-wheelers at their disposal, each of which would be raced around the circuit on a single lap basis.
Up first was the open-top Caterham sportscar, with Brundle heading out first after losing a game of rock paper scissors.

Fogarty was placed on stopwatch duty as Brundle, who is best-known for winning the 2016 European Le Mans Series in the LMP3 class, alongside his role as a TV broadcaster, began his one and only flying lap in the Caterham.
With Brundle building up speed, ‘Foggy’, who was beginning to look somewhat apprehensive, then questioned whether he could beat the lap time, especially since he had never driven an open-top sportscar before.
That’s on top of Brundle holding the circuit lap record in a single-seater. So all-in-all, Fogarty was very much up against it.
After watching Brundle set a time of 1m 31.5s, Fogarty offered a short but comedic response, saying: “I’ll beat that easy by cutting the chicanes, obviously.”
Sticking to his word, Fogarty blasted straight on at the first chicane, much to the amusement of Brundle. He then repeated that trick later on in the lap to clock an unofficial time of 1m 41s, although that’s without applying a time penalty. The other two races took place in a Ginetta GT car and a single-seater, but we’ll let you watch the video below to find out how Fogarty and Brundle fared.
While Fogarty held his own in all three races, Brundle ultimately completed a clean-sweep over the Superbike legend.
