Alvaro Bautista has retained top spot in morning warm-up ahead of Jonathan Rea following his race one win in Thailand, while Tom Sykes suffers an early technical issue for BMW.

The Aruba.it Racing Ducati rider claimed the top time in warm-up by over one-tenth of a second from Kawasaki rival Rea, while Pata Yamaha’s Michael van der Mark enjoyed strong overnight gains to jump to third place and inside two-tenths of the pace-setter.

Tom Sykes saw his warm-up session last just three corners when a technical issue with his BMW forced him to stop on track. Eugene Laverty was another rider to fail to set a lap time during warm-up as his Go Eleven Ducati squad hopes to recover from a dramatic brake failure which saw Laverty jump off his V4 R at high speeds in race one.

Chaz Davies bounced back from an off in race one to take fourth place in warm-up on the factory Ducati ahead of Alex Lowes who grabbed the final rostrum spot for Pata Yamaha in yesterday’s opener.

Marco Melandri secured sixth place for GRT Yamaha in front of race one rival Leon Haslam (Kawasaki as Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Barni Ducati), Sandro Cortese (GRT Yamaha) and Toprak Razgatlioglu (Puccetti Kawasaki) rounded out the top 10.
