Tito Rabat switches to Barni Racing for WorldSBK 2021
The rumours have been confirmed as Tito Rabat leaves the MotoGP paddock for the Barni Racing Team and WorldSBK 2021
THE rumours have been circulating for a few days now that 2014 Moto2 champion Tito Rabat was signing for the Barni Racing Team for WorldSBK 2021. The confirmation came late yesterday afternoon, after Rabat put pen to paper, committing Marco Barnabò’s team for just a solitary season.
Rabat has been a regular on the MotoGP grid since joining the top-flight with the Marc VDS he had claimed his 2014 MotoGP title for. Sadly for Rabat and his fans, he never quite managed to relive the success he found on the Moto2 bike in the top class, a task that was further hampered by a big accident at Silverstone in 2018. The Spaniard suffered serious leg injuries after falling heavily and being hit by another bike.
Now though, Tito will be looking to right some of those wrongs, and follow in the footsteps of another recent, and successful Ducati riding MotoGP exile, Scott Redding.
Speaking of the news, Rabat said:
“After having raced in MotoGP for many years now I have the opportunity to start a new adventure in Superbike and I want to show my full potential in this championship as well. I know that I will have excellent material and a good team at my disposal, and for this opportunity, I want to thank the Barni Racing Team and Ducati. A new challenge begins for me today. I got on the Ducati Panigale V4 R for the first time and I can't wait to take it to the track. I will work hard to be 100% ready right from the tests, and I hope to adapt as quickly as possible to get good results ".
