The new factory Dynavolt Triumph team has announced rising American star Brandon Paasch will complete its rider line-up for the 2020 British Supersport Championship.

Nineteen-year old Paasch makes the leap over from the domestic MotoAmerica Championship, where he finished in third overall, but has knowledge of the UK circuits after clinching the British MotoStar Championship (Moto3) he clinched in 2019.

He will be paired with internationally-experienced Briton Kyle Smith for his first assault on the British Supersport series.

“I am beyond excited to be joining such a legendary group of people like PTR and Triumph for 2021! I can’t thank everyone involved enough for this amazing opportunity. Growing up watching old video of the legend Gary Nixon racing a Triumph to now actually being able to ride one is almost surreal!”

Triumph is making a bold full factory return to Supersport competition as part of a ‘pilot’ project using alternative engine regulations that will ultimately determine whether they be broadly adopted globally.

As a result of this, the motorcycle Triumph is entering will be powered by its 765cc triple-cylinder engine though the model itself is set to be based around a faired version of the Street Triple RS, rather than using the now discontinued Daytona.

With PTR enlisted to run the team, Triumph is expected to re-enter the WorldSSP Championship in 2022 alongside its commitments as control engine supplier in Moto2.

As well as the ‘concept’ Triumph, there will also be a Ducati V2 entry in the BritishSSP Championship.
