WE'RE RATHER fond of Tucano Urbano here - its urban and scooter gear is nicely designed, well made, and just the job for schlepping round town in comfort and safety. Its jackets, gloves and famous scooter aprons are all spot-on for city riding.
And now the firm's expanding outwards, with a new range, indeed a full new brand, aimed at the adventure touring sector. Dubbed 'T.ur' - the new brand will bring Tucano Urbano's style, intelligent design and high quality to a more heavy-duty line of kit. So thicker, tougher textiles, thicker thermal linings, more hardcore protection, which will work better when riding out of town, in wild and wooly four-season weather conditions.
The range kicked off in Milan, at the EICMA show yesterday, with two new textile jackets and a pair of trousers to match, plus gloves and luggage options. Here's the release on the kit - we'll be trying it out as soon as we can...
The J-ONE and J-TWO, jackets are designed with a three level modular protection system, made with a main jacket, an internal thermal jacket which can be worn separately and a packable rainproof jacket to cover over the main jacket to remain dry and light in case of adverse conditions. Both jackets can be combined with the P-ONE trousers also a modular three level protection system: main trousers; packable and integrated rainproof over-trouser and ultralight and detachable thermal inner liner sold separately.
There are three new pairs of gloves, all moto CE certified and available in different colours to match the jackets range. G-ONE is the 12 months waterproof glove, perfect for touring; G-TWO is the highly ventilated summer glove and can be used both on and off road. Last but not least, G-THREE is a CE certified enduro racing glove. Two “adventouring must have” bags complete the range: B-ONE, a 6.5 litres tail bag with detachable waterproof lining to be fixed at the rear of the saddle or on the baggage rack and B-TWO a 1.7 litres handlebar bag with touchscreen smartphone pocket and a main space to place all the things for which you need a quick access during your rides.
