BMW’s brand new F900 R and XR twins may have been getting rave reviews from the bike press and have proved themselves to be among the bikes of the year thanks to their combination of real world performance, premium feel and yet decent value, but now they can be made to be even better yet thanks to this new lightweight slip-on can from exhaust experts Akrapovic.
Fabricated with a lightweight titanium outer sleeve and a stainless-steel link pipe and ‘pre-muffler’, the new ‘Slip-On Line exhaust offers an impressive 21.6% weight saving over the stock BMW item which is not to be sniffed at and has also been designed to fully-integrate with both F 900s’s sporty styling – blending with both the F 900 R’s roadster lines and the sport-adventure XR’s seamlessly. It’s even rounded off with a neat, hand-made carbon-fibre end cap.
Akrapovic also claim that the new system gives a ‘deep, sporty rumble’ to the BMW parallel twin powerplant while still meeting the requirements of Euro 5. Throttle response is also claimed to be better than stock.
The Slip-On Line (Titanium) system is fully EC/ECE type approved, is a simple ‘plug-in-and-play’ installation with no complicated or expensive remapping required and is even fully compatible with both BMW panniers and its main stand, if fitted, so no alterations are required.
Finally, it can even be further upgraded with the addition of an optional handmade carbon-fibre heatshield for around 70 quid. In short, what’s not to like? Ah yes, the price: It’s a whopping £1239 from UK importers Performance Parts….
