Yamaha has “no plans to make a EU5+ version” of XSR700
The removal of the XSR700 from the range leaves a sizeable void in the Sport Heritage family.

Yamaha quietly removed one of its modern retros from the UK range at the end of 2024, with the XSR700 being sent to pasture. It's been confirmed today that no updated Euro5+ model will be produced to replace it.

The move now means there is a sizeable gap in the Yamaha ‘Sport Heritage’ family, with the XSR125 and Legacy edition sitting a long way below the much more capable XSR900 and XSR900 GP. Yamaha Motor UK has also confirmed that there is no plan to make a Euro5+ version of the bike.
Yamaha XSR700 remains in some European ranges

While the UK has dropped the 700, that isn’t the case across Europe. France, for instance, still shows the bike as an option for riders, as does Yamaha Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Indeed, Spanish riders still have access to both the XSR700 and its more trick Legacy edition, although how long that situation will last is unknown. The Yamaha Germany website is, like the UK site, no longer listing the XSR700 as an option. A spokesperson for Yamaha UK pointed to some regions having remaining stock in the dealer network as the likely reason for the variation in availability.
While the dropping of the XSR700 seems like a certainty in all regions sooner or later, that isn’t the case for the rest of the CP2 range. The MT-07, Tracer 7, Tenere 700, and R7 have all received updates to maintain Euro regulation compliance.
