New Nexx X.Rally ADV helmet weighs just 1350g and costs from £499.99
The X.Rally is a new ECE 22.06-approved helmet from Nexx, featuring a carbon shell, removable peak, photochromic visor and added lower-edge impact protection.

Nexx has expanded its off-road and adventure range with the launch of the x.rally, a helmet aimed at hard enduro and adventure riding, but designed to work on the road as well.
The x.rally uses Nexx’s x-pro carbon fibre shell and has a claimed weight of 1350g. It meets the latest ECE 22.06 safety standard and is produced in three shell sizes, covering head sizes from xxs to xxxl.

One of the more distinctive features is the use of epp foam crash bumpers around the entire lower edge of the helmet, including the chin area. Nexx says this is intended to absorb impact energy in a crash and reduce the risk of collarbone injuries, something that has become an increasing focus in off-road helmet design.

The helmet is designed to be adaptable, with three different configurations. Dual sport mode uses both peak and visor, aimed at mixed conditions. Off-road mode removes the visor for use with goggles and increases airflow, while on-road mode removes the peak for a more conventional, road-focused profile. The peak is adjustable, with an optional extender available for additional coverage.

Ventilation is handled by a system made up of nine intake ports and six exhaust outlets, with Nexx’s mid-air flow chamber designed to regulate internal airflow. There is additional ventilation through the chin area and cheek pads, which should help at lower speeds off-road.

One bonus of the lid is the inclusion of a photochromic visor as standard, which darkens in bright light and returns to clear in low-light conditions. Photochromic visors aren’t cheap to buy as standalone items, making this feature a bit of a win for year-round riders. A spring-loaded visor mechanism is used to keep the visor sealed against the helmet, and a Pinlock 200 XLT Max vision insert is included to manage fogging.

Inside, the helmet uses removable and washable X-Mart dry lining, with 3D-formed cheek pads designed to improve comfort on longer rides. Retention is via a double d-ring fastening made from aluminium-magnesium alloy, with a magnetic button to secure the loose strap end.
The helmet is also set up for accessories. There are cut-outs for intercom speakers, space for clamp-style communication systems and mounting points for action cameras on both the chin and the top of the helmet, whether the peak is fitted or not.
The Nexx x.rally is available now, priced from £499.99 in plain carbon, rising to £539.99 for graphic versions.
