Yamaha Tracer 700 revealed

AS we predicted earlier today, Yamaha has just revealed the new MT-07-based Tracer model, first seen in spy shots last year.

Contrary to expectation, it's called the Tracer 700, not the MT-07 Tracer.

Using the same frame and 75hp, 689cc parallel-twin engine as the naked MT-07, it does what the MT-09 Tracer did for the 07's bigger brother, bringing touring capability to one of the most affordable and fun packages on the market.

It's been given a 50mm longer swing-arm than the MT-07, to give a wheelbase of 1,450mm. Suspension settings have been revised for long-distance according to Yamaha, to give 'smooth and responsive characteristics in a variety of conditions'.

Tank capacity has grown from 14 to 17 litres and it's gained a manually-adjustable tall screen as well as hand-guards with incorporated indicators.

It's got 'Tracer 900-style' dual headlights, a new one-piece stepped dual seat and pillion grab-rail.

Accessories include 20-litre soft panniers, a 39-litre top box and a taller screen.

It's set to go on sale from July this year at £6,299 in red, blue or black.
