Yamaha reveals new colours for 2023 YZF-R3 and YZF-R7

In America, Yamaha's YZF-R3 and YZF-R7 sports bikes have already been revealed in their new-for-2023 colours: purple for the 300, and white for the 700.

Yamaha has unveiled new colours for the 2023 YZF-R3 and R7 sports bikes, with a new option coming to each bike for the new model year.

The Yamaha YZF-R3 will be available in a new purple colour for the 2023 model year, as shown by the bike’s product page on the Yamaha US website.

The R3 last received a major update in 2019, when a new chassis was introduced. For 2023, that does not change, and the bike remains the same as the 2022 version, except the new “Phantom Purple” paint.

That means the 321cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder DOHC engine remains, as do the inverted front forks and preload-adjustable single rear shock. Furthermore, the wheels remain at 17 inches, with a 110/70 tyre at the front and a 140/70 tyre at the rear.

Both the front (298mm disc) and rear brakes (220mm disc) come with ABS, and there is a theoretical range of 207 miles thanks to its 56mpg and 3.7-gallon (16.8-litre) fuel capacity.

Yamaha US is quoting $5,499 (around £4,600) for the 2023 R3 in all three colours: the aforementioned “Phantom Purple”, “Team Yamaha Blue”, and “Midnight Black”.

The YZF-R3 is not the only Yamaha sports bike to have its 2023 model year colours revealed first in America. The YZF-R7 also received a visual update for 2023, with a new “Intensity White” option to go alongside the “Performance Black” and “Team Yamaha Blue” colours.

For the 2023 R7, Yamaha US is quoting $9,199 in all three of the aforementioned colours, which equates to around £7,800.
