Surprise new YS125 for £2,799

Yamaha reveals new 125 commuter

YAMAHA has just revealed this new 125cc commuter, the YS125, a successor to the discontinued YBR125.

Yamaha says the YS125 offers better fuel economy than the YBR and will manage up to 186 miles between refills, thanks to a one-litre-larger tank, at 14 litres.

It’s Euro4 emissions-compliant, with a newly designed 125cc air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder engine, and comes with 18-inch wheels plus both an electric and kick-start.

It’s got ‘relaxed ergonomics’ and improved comfort thanks to a 15-mm-higher seat, at 795mm, the firm says.

It’s also got new styling, with a headlight cowl, ‘angular new side air scoops’ and an ‘upswept black muffler’.

It’s got a ‘Unified Braking System for added controllability,’ Yamaha says.

It’s got to beat public transport, we say.

The price is £2,799 and it will be available in three colours – red, white or black – from mid-March.
