Yamaha’s sports 250 to go naked too?

The rumours just keep on coming

YAMAHA’S forthcoming 250cc sports bike is no secret anymore, having been confirmed by top brass at the firm on more than one occasion despite no official release of pictures (see left for a mock-up currently doing the interweb rounds) or technical details. And now the rumour mill around the machine is winding up again with suggestions that there will also be a naked version.

So as well as an R250, we can expect an FZ250 using the same engine and probably the same chassis.

Of course, it makes sense. KTM is doing something similar, albeit the other way around, by creating a faired sports bike from the platform of its Duke 390. And there are strong indications that Honda will soon launch a naked bike developed from the engine and chassis of the CBR250R.

When Triumph gets around to launching its long-awaited small-capacity naked bike, widely expected to resemble a miniature Street Triple and boasting a single-cylinder engine, will it be tempted to make a mini-Daytona to accompany it?
