After teasing a new mid-size tall-rounder earlier this month, Kawasaki has since delivered on said tease, with the all-new Versys 900.

When we brought you the news that Kawasaki had something special lined-up, a new Versys model was at the top of our predictions list.

The new Versys 900 gains the same 948cc inline-four engine inspired by Team Green’s supernaked Z range, which is housed by the Z900.

Described as Kawasaki’s most sporty Versys model to date, the new 900 model will produce a claimed 120.3bhp at 9,500rpm and 71.8 Ib-ft of torque at 8,000rpm.

Sitting between the parallel-twin Versys 650, and the four-cylinder Versys 1100, the 900 model also arrives with an SE (Special Edition) variant.

Pricing starts at 10,899 for the standard Versys 900, which is available in either a Metallic Spark Black or Pearl Robotic White colours.

Then there’s the Versys 900 SE, which is also available in two colourways, and with Kawasaki genuine accessories, including compact LED fog lamps, hand guards, grip heaters, radiator screen, frame protection sliders and a lower cowl plus centre stand.

Housed in a brand-new trellis chassis, the Versys 900 claims to offer a near 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution.

The new model also gains the combination of long-travel suspension and sporty 17-inch wheels shod with Metzeler Roadtec 01 tyres.

It features a seven-position adjustable screen and height-adjustable seat (ranging from 825mm to 845mm). Additionally, the new model is equipped with ARAS (Advanced Rider Assistance Systems), including Adaptive Cruise Control Lite (ACC Lite), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD).

An emergency Stop Signal (ESS) is also part of the setup to help reduce the risk of rear-end collisions.

Information is displayed via a full-colour 5-inch TFT display that can be paired with the rider’s smartphone to offer turn-by-turn navigation.

As standard, the Versys 900 also features KCMF (Cornering Management Function), KTRC (Traction Control), Enhanced ABS, various power modes and integrated riding modes, as well as a quickshifter.

Finally, the Versys 900 and SE models can both be equipped with an additional 47-litre accessory top case, and two 32-litre side panniers.
