Two new Triumph Tiger 800 models revealed

But they're actually just the existing ones with accessories and new paint

TRIUMPH has revealed ‘two new Tiger 800 models’ which are actually the same as two existing editions of the bike but with a bigger alternator and some accessories added.

The two new editions are called the Tiger 800 XRT and the Tiger 800 XCA. The XRT is a slightly higher-spec version of the existing road-biased XRx. The XCA bears the same relation to the existing XCx, which has a more off-road bent.

Both new editions have been given a larger-capacity 650W alternator to power new standard-fitment heated grips and seats, LED fog lights, plus extras the rider may plug in like heated clothing. Both gain a GPS mounting kit and rails for an optional pannier system.

The XRT also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system, a CNC machined brake reservoir and an aluminium radiator guard.

The XCA gets CNC machined pegs and three power sockets instead of two.

The XRT comes in a new 'intense orange' colour scheme and the XCA in 'matt khaki green'.

Prices are expected to be £500 more than the XRx and XCx, which means £9,999 for the XRT and 10,499 for the XCA, on the road. The on-sale date has yet to be confirmed.

It brings the total number of Tiger 800 editions to six. As well as the existing XCx and XRx, the range already included the XC and XR, which are the same minus electronics and riding modes.

At least they’ve kept it simple, with memorable and distinct names.

Visordown first told you about the six variants of the Tiger 800 back in October last year.

A press release from Triumph said:

'• Two new Tiger 800 models launched at the pinnacle of the range – the more road biased XRT and the more off-road biased XCA.

• Sitting above the already comprehensively equipped XRX and XCX models, the new XRT and XCA focus on the ultimate in rider comfort.

• Larger capacity 650W alternator to power the standard fitment heated rider / passenger seats, heated grips, and LED fog lights plus other ancillary devices such as GPS systems or heated clothing.

• New colours of Intense Orange on the XRT and Matt Khaki Green on the XCA

• Both bikes are ready to tour with the fitment of pannier rails for the optional Triumph Expedition aluminium pannier system.'
