54 years 8 monthsTwo new Harley-Davidson CVO motorcycles have been unveiled alongside updated Street Glide and Road Glide touring bikes.
The new Harley-Davidson CVO additions include a touring model and an adventure bike. There’s no prizes for guessing the adventurer is a Pan America CVO, while the touring model is a Road Glide ST CVO. These follow on from the Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide that was launched last year. At the same time, Harley-Davidson is launching an updated version of both the Road Glide and Street Glide.
The new CVO models arrive in 2024 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO), with the Road Glide ST billed as the new flagship model of the CVO range.
Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide ST
On the part of the CVO Road Glide ST, the engine is tuned to produce 127bhp and 145lb ft, which Harley says is “the most horsepower and torque ever from a factory-installed engine,” in one of its production motorcycles. The engine’s characteristic is made a little livelier by a shortened final drive, too. You can adjust that character yourself by choosing between Road, Sport, Track, Track Plus, and Rain riding modes, or one of a number of customisable modes.
Showa takes care of suspension, with a remote reservoir rear shock and a 47mm inverted fork, while Brembo provides the brakes.
The cockpit is theoretically simplified by an enhanced infotainment system featuring a colour touchscreen that Harley says “replaces all analogue instrumentation and most switches.”
The 2024 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide ST is available in two colour options: Golden White Pearl, and Raven Metallic. Each features a Screamin’ Eagle graphic on the side fairing and on the fuel tank. There’s also CVO 25th anniversary graphics. Price? Call it £38,995.
Harley-Davidson CVO Pan America
The CVO Pan America feels like a substantial addition to the CVO roster, perhaps in a similar way to how it did when the original Pan America was launched by Harley-Davidson towards the end of the last decade. It marks the first CVO adventurer.
Technically speaking, the CVO Pan America remains close to the path laid out by the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special, meaning semi-active front and rear suspension, touchscreen display, selectable ride modes, and adaptive headlights. Plus, you get 150bhp and 94lb ft.
Adaptive ride height suspension, rugged aluminium top and side cases, a Screamin' Eagle quickshifter, tubeless laced wheels, auxiliary LED forward lighting and an aluminium skid plate, all add to the CVO Pan America’s off-road abilities.
The prominence of KTM in the adventure segment means the bike’s black and orange colour scheme might confuse a few at first, but it’s hard to deny that it looks good. Whether the price looks good at £23,495 is up to you.
2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide & Road Glide
The announcement of the new CVOs kind of puts the new 2024 Street Glide (below) and Road Glide (above) both in the shade a little.
In any case, a new visual design is brought to both bikes, and re-engineering has brought less weight and more power. The engine now produces 105bhp and 130lb ft in both the Street Glide and Road Glide. The former now comes in at 368kg wet, and the latter at 380kg.
As for the visuals, a new front fairing is used on both bikes, which also helps to reduce buffeting. Also on the comfort side, rear suspension travel is increased to 76mm, and this combines with a redesigned seat to offer an improved ride.
Prices for the 2024 Street Glide start at £26,795, and at £27,295 for the 2024 Road Glide.
“These exciting new models represent a new era for Harley-Davidson, elevating every aspect of performance, technology, comfort, and style,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson. “Without question, these are the most enticing touring motorcycles ever offered by Harley-Davidson.”
The 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, Road Glide, CVO Road Glide ST, and CVO Pan America are all expected in dealers in the first quarter of 2024.
