Speed Triple R gets tweaked for 2014

ABS as standard, different wheels and a drop in price

TRIUMPH'S Öhlins-clad Speed Triple R is getting a few tweaks and a new colour for 2014.

The radiator cover is now red and the wheels feature red pin-striping. There's also the addition of a colour-matched flyscreen, belly pan and seat cowl, a clear rear light unit and a black exhaust heat shield.

A Matt Crystal White colour scheme replaces the launch bike's gloss Caspian White and sits alongside the Phanton Black version.

The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed the price has dropped and that's partly down to the wheels; the forged aluminium wheels have been replaced by the same cast aluminium wheels as the standard bike. The 2014 model also comes with switchable ABS as standard. ABS was a cost option (£600) on the 2012 bike.

There are no engine mods or power upgrades but the 133bhp, 1050cc motor, Öhlins front and rear suspension and Brembo mono-bloc brakes provide a package that isn't short on performance.

The 2014 Speed Triple R costs £10.999 and that's with with extras and ABS as standard. The original Speed Triple R with ABS was £11,949.

The 2014 model is available in dealers now.
