THE updated 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 has officially landed and is marking a step change for the brands biggest adventure touring motorcycle.

The focus on the new Tiger 1200 has been placed firmly on slimming down the previously heavyweight machine, making it more focussed, powerful, and better performing on the road, and off it. At the centre of the 2022 update is an all-new engine featuring the innovative T-plane architecture of the Tiger 900 middleweight adventure bike. It is mates to a new chassis, suspension, shaft drive system and ergonomics.

For 2022 the Tiger 1200 is launching into new ground, with the addition of GT and Rally editions of the adventure bike. On top of that, the 2022 model will also be available in new Explorer versions, boasting long-range 30l fuel tanks, higher-spec kit and added tech.

The GTs feature 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels that are cast in aluminium. They both also feature new Showa semi-active suspension, allowing the rider to customise the ride to their requirements on the fly.

The new range begins with the touring and on-road orientated Tiger 1200 GT range, which comes in three flavours, GT and GT Pro (both featuring a 20-litre tank) and long-range Explorer versions., Rally Covering the off-road side of things is the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro and Rally Explorer.

All versions of the Tiger 1200 Rally feature 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tubeless spoked rims for superior off-road handling and ability.

Tiger 1200 Explorer models

The new Explorer versions of the Tiger 1200 boast an innovative blind spot detection system to warn the rider of vehicles that could be invisible in the rearview mirrors. They also boast substantial 30-litre fuel tanks enabling the machines to cover vast amounts of road between fill-ups.

Tiger 1200 engine

The all-new 1160cc T-plane engine brings a major step up in performance with 147bhp peak power at 9,000rpm, 8.5bhp up on the previous generation, making it the most powerful shaft drive motorcycle in the class. The torque is also significantly higher than the previous generation, with 130Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm, 8Nm up on the previous engine.

2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 pricing and colours

The new Tiger 1200 range starts at £14,600 for the Tiger 1200 GT and bikes are expected to be landing in UK dealerships in Spring 2022.
