Husqvarna Norden 901 will spearhead full ‘Huskie’ ADV line

The all-new Husqvarna Norden 901 adventure tourer is just the first in a line of ADV models on the horizon from the Swedish firm

Husqvarna Norden 901

Fresh from confirmation the Husqvarna Norden 901 adventure tourer concept is going into production, new documents reveal the Swedish firm has plans to expand the model line across the engine range.

‘Huskie’ pulled the wraps off the brand-new 901 Norden concept at the 2019 EICMA show in Milan, representing a new philosophy for the manufacturer by taking it into the popular adventure/tourer area for the first time.

The 901 Norden bears all the hallmarks of the current ‘Huskie’ range with its gunmetal colours, smoked circular headlamp and brushed metal plate finishing related to the acclaimed Svartpilen and Vitpilen.

It remains to be seen whether the endurance-style yellow quad-lights and black rims make it to production – slated for 2021 – untouched.

If you like the look of the Norden 901 though, it won’t be the first and last Husqvarna to be going off-road in the name of Norden (which means North in Swedish if you were wondering) with a number of different engine-sizes to be available according to an investor document that upcoming models.

What is coming from Husqvarna in 2020/21?

This is hardly a surprise given the Norden 901 is based on the KTM Adventure 890 meaning there was always scope for it to utilise that lineage for its own benefits.

As such, based on the current nomenclature, a Norden 401 will be based on the KTM 390 Adventure, while a Norden 501 will make use of the upcoming new 490cc platform KTM is set to develop as many as five models off. A Norden 250 is also in the pipeline but targeted at Asian markets.

The Pierer Mobility AG (KTM and Husqvarna’s parent company) isn’t stopping its adventure, well adventure just there though with newly-acquired GasGas also slated to hit the road with its own version of the KTM 790 Adventure.

The document also shows a new naked – no doubt the Vitpilen or Svartpilen – on that 490 platform, plus a new entry level as—yet-unnamed Classic machine and what could be a new Scrambler too.
