2022 Honda 500cc range updates

Honda CB500X, CBR500R, and CB500F 2022 updates.

All three bikes have received a shot in the arm in the handling department for 2022, with Showa 41mm separate Function Big Piston Forks and a rear shock with new settings being the headline component. Mated to the Showa forks are new, dual 296mm front discs – previously it was a single disc set up on the CB500X. The new braking set-up is finished off with a set of Nissin radially mounted two-piston calipers and backed up by a two-channel ABS system.

Further chassis improvements come in the form of new lighter wheels that feature thinner castings for the spokes and a new rear swingarm. The new item is constructed from thinner steel and now features a hollow cross member for optimised performance.

Internally, the engines of the bike remain much the same and still kick out an A2 compliant 47bhp (35kW). There are new settings within the ECU though that are aimed at improving the feel of the throttle (the previous generation bikes could tend to be a little snatchy) without affecting performance. A new design radiator is helping to reduce weight by around 100g and as far as engine updates go, that’s about it.

Finally, from an aesthetic perspective, the LED headlights are more powerful, and the indicator positions have been adapted for greater visibility.
