First on Visordown: Ducati Monster 821 official pics

First official pictures and details of new mid-sized Monster

DUCATI has just released the first official pictures and details of the new Monster 821.

The new model uses the same steel trellis chassis as the Monster 1200 but with the 821cc 11° V-twin Testastretta engine from the Hypermotard, tuned for 112hp and 65.9lbft of torque.

It also shares similar styling with the Monster 1200 but, unlike its bigger brother, has a double-sided swing-arm.

Dry weight is 179.5kg.

It comes with traction control, ABS and an adjustable seat.

Ducati's release on the new model said: 'High-spec brakes, excellent suspension and stylish componentry merge with Ducati’s best-yet ergonomics to offer the Italian manufacturer’s most attractive mid-range Monster ever. Super comfortable and with an innovative adjustable seat height, the model also combines 8-level traction control, 3-level ABS and 3-level Ride-by-Wire into Ducati’s user-friendly, press-button Riding Modes.'

The Monster 821 is due to go on sale from July in red, white or black. The red and white editions will cost £8,995 and the 'Dark' black edition £8,795, including on-the-road charges.

Visordown revealed spy shots of the new model in March, when it was expected to be called the Monster 800.
