AS THE LINE between battery powered motorcycles and battery powered bicycles becomes closer with every new machine launched, Hirsch Design narrows the gap even further with the company's new 'Comoto'.

An electric motor mounted in the rear wheel hub helps reduce the Comoto's weight to a measly 53kg. On the move, the Comoto is capable of speeds in excess of 40mph and has a range of around 30 miles.

The bike can recharge its batteries while on the move, using power generated by the bike's forward momentum and braking. This is adjustable, so the rider can decide the balance between top speed and overall distance, depending on their situation. A full re-charge takes about 2 hours.

No prices available yet. Production is expected to get underway by Spring 2010.
