Ducati Diavel 1260 S Black and Steel is a vision in stealth black... and yellow

The Ducati Diavel 1260 S gets a stealthy black makeover for its Black and Steel limited edition... at least it would if it wasn't also yellow

We are a full six months into 2021 and we had yet to be lavished with a Ducati limited edition, that is until today with the unveiling of the eye-catching Ducati Diavel Black and Steel.

Based on the already devilish Diavel 1260 S with its rakish lines and squat stance, the Diavel Black and Steel adds a more utilitarian finish to the beefy muscle bike  in preparation for sale in July 2021.

The model follows on from Ducati’s last special edition effort developed in collaboration with VW Group stablemate Lamborghini, but while the emphasis was on elegance and luxury, the Diavel Black and Steel is instead dubbed a successor to the ‘Materico’ special edition launched in 2019.

Whereas the Materico was created for Milan Design Week, the Ducati Diavel 1260 S Black and Steel has been created for the MIMO Motor Show, to be held at the Piazza Duomo in the major northern Italian city.

What sets the Black and Steel apart is the Stealth - you guess it - Black colour scheme, though any hopes or fears of riding around unnoticed are scuppered by the bold splash of yellow paint detailing, most noticeably on the trellis frame and under the seat as it scoops up at the rear.

At its heart is a more familiar tale with the same 1262cc Testastretta DVT engine providing a hearty 162hp at 9,500rpm with the emphasis placed firmly on low down grunt and muscular torque levels, while the chassis gets use of a comfortable and grippy 240mm rear tyre.

"The Ducati Diavel 1260 family, synonymous with style, innovation and performance, has won prestigious international design awards such as the “Red Dot Award” and the “Good Design Award”,” declared Director of Centro Stile Ducati, Andrea Ferraresi

“We are really pleased to present this new version in Milan, a city that has always represented a world benchmark in this sector.

“The Diavel 1260 S “Black and Steel” is a bike that does not go unnoticed. Its asymmetrical graphics, the contrast between matt black, grey and touches of yellow have been designed to enhance the power, design and sportiness of this bike.”
