Curtiss launch crowdfunding campaign to help produce the Zeus
The American muscle-bike builder is seeking investors to help push forward the production of their latest electric bike concept
CURTISS (formally Confederate) Motorcycles are launching a crowdfunding campaign this week to help raise capital and accelerate the production of its latest concept bike, the electrically powered Zeus.
The company have teamed up with crowdfunding site, Wefunder, and will opening investments, priced at $0.20 per share, on the 30th November. Investment is open to the public with a minimum investment of $1,000 USD, equating to 5,000 shares of common stock in the company.
Curtiss CEO and Chairman Matt Chambers said: “We formed Curtiss to lead the growing premium all-electric motorcycle market. With equity crowdfunding, we’re inviting our customers, followers, and fans to join us as we accelerate production of our first battery-electric motorcycles, and ultimately lead the electric motorcycle revolution.”
If there’a Zeus shaped hole in your bike collection, the finished product is expected to cost around $60,000 (£47,000 at today's rate) with production beginning in early 2020. Curtiss claim the bike will have a range of 280 miles and will deliver 190hp and 145lb/ft of torque.
As well as the futuristically styled Zeus, the company has also penned the wild looking Hera (picture below) concept that looks to be styled along the lines of the V8 Curtiss. The original V8 was raced by the company’s founder, Glenn Curtiss, to a world record on Ormond Beach Florida, reaching more than 140mph in 1907.
