Could the Honda CB900 be making a return

The iconic Honda CB900F was a star of the AMA back in the 80s, and it could be about to make a comeback as a retro-styled naked

WITH retro-styled recreations seemingly evermore popular, we could be about to get another trip down memory lane from Honda in the form of a modern take on the classic – and iconic – CB900F!

While this isn’t strictly a leak from within the manufacturer it is a very cool looking rendering from the guys and girls at Young Machine magazine, who are known for picking up on hints from within the industry and running with them. And who knows, if we make enough noise about the potential machine, they might just make it!

They reports that the the engine displacement could be downsized from the CB1300 and 1100 engines to a 900cc platform, with them pointing to a possible new model joining the retro CB range of machines.

The team at YM are pointing to two potential models, a classically-styled CB900 Four and the a more performance focussed and AMA styled CB900F. The CB900 Four looks to be a faithful recreation of the original CB models, with chassis and suspension components that could easily be carried over from the existing CB1100 models. The rendering shows an air/oil-cooled engine, retro-styled lighting and paint, and some period-correct stacked exhaust pipes.

The CB900F though is the bike that has really got our attention, mainly thanks to its awesome looking paint scheme and iconic tank and seat unit design. This machine features some sporty looking USD forks, radially amounted brake calipers and an AMA correct, black ceramic coated exhausts.

Would you like to see the CB900 making a comeback, or should history be just that – consigned to history.
