BMW CE 04 electric scooter spied, set to mirror concept prototype

The production version of the BMW CE 04 electric scooter will remain faithful to the last year's concept preview judging by these new spy shots

The first images of the BMW CE 04 electric scooter have emerged after eagle-eyed snappers papped the striking looking model in Germany getting to grips with its urban natural habitat.

Heralding BMW’s first ‘from the ground up’ entry into the electric market, the CE 04 evidently draws heavily from a concept version - the Definition CE 04 - revealed in November 2020 that previewed a new design direction for the Munich marque.

Judging by these images - credited to ‘decoches blogspot’ via IndianAutoBlog - the CE 04 retains the same wide front highlighted by V-shaped headlights and features a flat, boxy profile from the front fascia to rear-end that intentionally accentuates the chunky battery rather than disguise it. The appearance is (hub)capped off by retaining the same rear wheel-trim of the concept.

Indeed, with a squat feet forward seating position, the CE 04 is likely to feature some ‘big bike’ traits that BMW will no doubt hope attracts motorcycle owners, rather than simply court upgrading scooter owners.

A closer look reveals a broad dashboard that is clearly a development of the concept CE 04’s digital-inspired interface. We’re not sure if the very snazzy Pet Shop Boys/Tron-style clothing range that accompanied the concept CE 04’s launch have also made it towards production unchanged.

For now, all we have to go on are these images with details about performance, range and price to come closer to a launch that we expect to see towards the end of 2021.

This will be the second electric BMW scooter in its range, following on from the £14,000 BMW C Evolution Plus.
