Designed to be a more exciting proposition than simply another electric scooter, the F9 features an innovative two-speed transmission. It’s a claimed first on an electric bike and should definitely make the bike a more exciting option than a conventional CVT-equipped machine. It’s not totally clear how the system works or whether or not the rider can manually override the up and downshift. We’ll be keeping close tabs on the bike though and will update as soon as we know.
The business end of the machine is a 9.4Kw motor that is paired to a 96V 40Ah battery. The combination is claimed to provide 12.5bhp and healthy 22lb-ft of torque, enough to propel the 107kg machine to 70mph. the claimed range is 75 miles and the recharge time courtesy of the in-built fast charger is just two hours.
The bike’s chassis is just as innovative, with the battery casing forming part of the frame thanks to being mounted as a stressed member, with cartridge forks and a mono-shock rounding out the chassis package.
As with the other bikes announced by KYMCO this morning, we are awaiting confirmation of UK-bound units and will update you as soon as we have this information.
