Moriwaki revives its Foresight exhaust system: Adds it to an XSR900 GP

The Moriwaki Foresight exhaust system was a big hit with riders in the 1980s, thanks to its innovative design and eye-catching looks.

Motorcycle tuning company Moriwaki is making waves in Japan, as it has announced the return of one of its most eye-catching and innovative exhaust systems, the Foresight.

The Foresight exhaust first appeared in the 1980s, quickly makinig waves on the road and the track. Designed to improve the performance of the muffler through the use of interesting cooling fins, the system was touted as increasing the performance of the exhaust by controlling the temperature of the silencer.

The main thing that made them a big hit, though, was the looks, as the black and silver finish, along with those striking fins running from front to back, made it look like no other exhaust system on two wheels.

The T-shaped fins channel cooling air along the body of the silencer, helping to cool it and increase the efficiency of the fibreglass stuffing within. It was this cooling effect that made the system a big hit with racers, with the Honda-powered Moriwaki ZERO-X7 race bike, ridden by Hikaru Miyagi, being one of the most famous machines to use the full system.

To relaunch the Foresight, Moriwaki created an XSR900 GP, decked out from front to back in the colours of Miyagi’s machine. The result might just be one of the best-looking custom XSR900 GP’s we’ve ever seen, with the full system exhausts' black ceramic finish and slimline catalytic converter adding to the XSR’s already appealing retro look.

There is no word yet on pricing and availability, as the Foresight isn’t yet showing on the Moriwaki website as a product people can buy. When that changes, we’ll let you know, although the chances of it officially making it to the UK are slim.
