MotoGP makes Brazil schedule change after weather setback
MotoGP has adjusted its Friday schedule in Brazil after delays caused by bad weather.

If you’ve paid any attention to WorldSBK this year you’ll know that it has been hit hard by rain throughout the winter, but today it has been MotoGP that has been subject to adverse conditions.
In the build up to the Brazilian MotoGP this week there have been several days of rain, leading to flooding in Goiania and on the track itself.
Rain fell on Monday and Tuesday, and then again on Thursday evening. The Thursday rain continued through the night and into Friday morning, leading to a one-hour delay to the start time of Moto3 FP1, which was originally due to start at 09:00 local time but which was delayed until 10:00.
Consequently, the Moto2 and MotoGP FP1 sessions were also moved back by an hour. Moto2 started at 11:00 local time, while MotoGP is now scheduled for a 12:05 start.
Afternoon practices are also affected by the schedule changes. Moto3 will start at 14:15 local time, Moto2 at 15:05, and MotoGP at 16:00.
This weekend’s Brazilian MotoGP is the first race in the country for the premier division of global motorcycle racing since 2004’s Rio Grand Prix. The world championship most recently visited the Goiania circuit hosting this year’s race in 1989 when Kevin Schwantz won the 500cc race and Luca Cadalora the 250cc grand prix.
Pedro Acosta enters this weekend’s second round of 2026 with the points lead after winning the Thai Sprint and finishing second in the Sunday race in Buriram. His lead is seven points over Marco Bezzecchi, who was dominant in the opening full-distance race of the year. Reigning champion Marc Marquez lies ninth in the championship after retiring from the Thai Grand Prix with wheel rim damage.
