MotoGP’s leadership team has undergone changes ahead of this weekend’s Catalan Grand Prix, with former Channel 4 and Sky executive Vince Russell joining as Chief Financial Officer.

The move might not be one that makes Russell a name to remember for MotoGP fans, or one that puts him in front of the cameras for that matter, but it’s a hire that could drive MotoGP’s already growing interest even further.

Most recently, Russell served as the CFO of Channel 4 in the UK, although he previously worked at Sky for 15 years.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, said this about the championship hiring Russell:

"We are very pleased to welcome Vince to MotoGP at such an important moment for the business. As we continue to develop and grow as a global sports and entertainment platform, his experience across leading international media and technology organisations, combined with his track record of driving transformation and financial performance, will be invaluable to the next phase of our development."

MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group confirmed the appointment with immediate effect, as it looks to build on a very impressive year in 2025.

TV audiences grew globally by an average of 9 per cent at each Grand Prix last season, while sprint races produced a viewership surge of 26 per cent compared to 2024. 2025 was also a good year for MotoGP’s digital presence, with its social media following surging past the 60 million mark.

Engagement across MotoGP’s social media channels climbed by a staggering 61 per cent, with fans consuming more than 1 billion minutes of action on MotoGP’s official YouTube channel.

The 2025 season also saw Marc Marquez match Valentino Rossi’s tally of seven MotoGP titles, and nine world championships across all the Grand Prix classes.
