Mick Grant’s Isle of Man TT Heron Suzuki goes up for sale
A special Suzuki GS1000R, raced by Mick Grant at the Isle of Man TT, is heading for auction in the UK later this month.

Factory-built for racing in the 1980s, this Heron Suzuki GS1000R is expected to fetch between £45,000 and £55,000 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull later this month.
The bike will be made available as part of a sale organised by H&H Classic Auctions on July 22.
Officially launched in 1978, the GS1000 arrived as Suzuki’s first one-litre bike with an air-cooled inline-four engine developed from the GS750.

This was followed by the R variant, which quickly established itself as one of the most competitive race bikes in the early 1980s. This original Heron Suzuki model was raced in 1984 by Grant, who competed in the Formula One and TT races across the UK and Isle of Man.
Over the course of his career, Grant managed to achieve seven TT wins along with three victories in Grand Prix racing. His first TT win came in 1974, and his last in 1985.
In recent years, the bike’s maintenance has been carried out by Paul Boulton, who joined Heron Suzuki as a mechanic in 1982. According to the listing, the bike is ready to run and comes with several spare parts, including a large-capacity fuel tank that was used in the Isle of Man TT and “other endurance races”.

The bike also made appearances at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and historic Grand Prix, and comes complete with an FIM Historic certification. Additionally, it is offered for sale with a race-tuned version of the GSX1100 engine, as was used in the Super One class of the British Superbike Championship.
You can find out more information about this bike, and all other listings that will be going under the hammer on July 22, on the official H&H Classic Auctions website.
