Marc Marquez signs new MotoGP deal with Ducati ahead of 850cc switch
Marc Marquez has secured a new two-year deal with the factory Lenovo Ducati team in MotoGP, but which rider will be next to sign?

The news we all knew was coming has finally been confirmed, with Marc Marquez staying at the Lenovo Ducati MotoGP team until the end of 2028.
The nine-time world champion has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal, ahead of the team’s expected confirmation of Pedro Acosta as his new team-mate.
Acosta is set to move away from KTM to replace the outgoing Francesco Bagnaia, who is expected to sign a two-year deal with Aprilia Racing as Marco Bezzecchi’s team-mate.

For Marquez, the new contract gives him ample opportunity to build on a legacy that has already made him one of the greatest riders in MotoGP history, if not the best.
Following back-to-back wins in Hungary and the Czech Republic, Marquez is back in the 2026 title fight and would become an eight-time MotoGP champion if he does indeed win this year’s championship.

Speaking about his new deal with the Lenovo Ducati team, Marquez said:
“I'm red. I'm truly happy with this new agreement with the Ducati Lenovo Team and to continue being part of this family. When I decided to join Ducati, I was convinced it was the most competitive project. They believed in me, and we built a relationship based on trust and hard work.
“With this renewal, they have once again reaffirmed this commitment, respecting my times and giving me the peace of mind I needed to make the right decision. In our first year together, we fought for the title and won it: a priceless result that confirms that the path we had chosen was the right one.
“I continue to compete because I love this sport and I want to achieve even more ambitious goals. I'm convinced this is the right place to do it. As long as I'm here, I'll give my all to paint the future red.”
With Marquez suffering injuries towards the end of last season, and earlier this year, it was unclear what the Spaniard’s future in the sport looked like. However, it became apparent very early on that Marquez was not going to retire, and that a new deal with Ducati was a formality.
Visordown will bring you all the latest when further MotoGP deals are confirmed.
