The KTM Factory Racing tour is surprisingly going ahead despite the Austrian company battling financial and production troubles.

Just last week we found out that KTM is still in a major hole as it was left with no choice but to pause its motorcycle production for a second time due to a lack of parts being available.

However, the tour which takes place at the KTM Motohall in Mattighofen, which includes a museum visit, 30 per cent discount on purchases, a behind-the-scenes look inside KTM’s motorsport department and a free lunch, is still going ahead despite the third-party company that runs it filing for insolvency earlier this year.

If you don’t already know, the last few months have been a disaster for KTM as it filed for self-administration, faced debts of close to €3 billion, laid off hundreds of employees, as well as cancelled some of its involvement in racing.

A few days ago, it also confirmed that it would not be continuing with the distribution of CFMoto bikes in Europe any more, instead choosing to focus on its own brand, and you can hardly blame the manufacturer given the current state it is in.

There have been some positives, though, one of which included its restructuring plan being approved by creditors back in February, although it must pay back 30 per cent of what the creditors are owed by 23 May, which is said to be 548 million euros.

All that said, members of the public can still get up close with bikes that have won championships across various different racing disciplines, while also getting the chance to speak to some of the key figures behind the construction of said bikes.

The 4 June tour date is currently sold out while there is also a tour lined up for 16 July, which is a good sign that KTM will hopefully continue with the initiative beyond the summer.

A lot of that will depend on how KTM continues to tackle its financial issues, while production is planning to be restarted for a second time on 27 July.
