John McGuinness wears Gus Scott tribute helmet at the Classic TT
The Classic TT sees John McGuinness pay tribute to the “hilariously funny and fast” TT racer and journalist Gus Scott.

John McGuinness will be using a social tribute helmet at this year's Classic TT, as remembers his friend and fellow TT racer Gus Scott.
The helmet, which features brightly coloured triangular sections, will be familiar to those riders out who remember the pre-digital age. When actual physical magazines ruled the media landscape, that distinctive lid would be a mainstay on the front cover of some of the biggest titles on newsagent shelves.
Scott wasn't only a much-loved motorcycle journalist, he was also a highly respected racer, competing in the TT, Southern 100 and Macau. It was at Macau where he scored an incredible fourth place, with only David Jefferies, John McGuinness, and the winner, Micheal Rutter in front of him.

During his time in the road racing fraternity, Scott and John McGuinness struck up a close friendship, leading to the 23-time TT winners tribute helmet at this year’s Classic TT.
Posting on social media about the helmet and his friend, McGuinnness said:
“It’s been 20 years since we lost a great friend Gus Scott so thought I’d do a little tribute to him at classic TT hilariously funny and fast. Sadly missed but never forgotten.”
McGuinness will be taking part in both the Senior Classic TT, riding a Paton, and the Junior Classic TT, then riding a Honda CB350 K4. Keep an eye out for tribute helmet by following all the action via the livestream.
