A new Guinness world record has been set by two Italian riders on a Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle, with the pair completing more than 900 miles in 24 hours on a short off-road track.

Silvio Sabba and Valerio Boni rode a total of 1,462km (around 908.5 miles), which resulted in 1,158 laps of the small off-road circuit.

The gravel track was based in Tenuta Roverbella, near Milan, with the two men sharing riding duties over the course of the day.

Specifically, the new record achieved was for the most off-road distance covered in 24 hours, and the attempt was made independently and in line with the Guinness Book of World Records guidelines.

The successful record attempt was carried out with continuous timing, video coverage, GPS tracking, while the planned route is said to have been measured by a certified engineer.

The new kilometre total set blitzes the previous record which stood at 650km (roughly 403.9 miles), meaning Sabba and Boni managed to double the distance covered and some.

The two men are no strangers to setting a world record, or in the case of Sabba, 180 records remain in his name, currently. Sabba first became known as a Guinness world record holder when he completed the most squats on one leg in a single minute, which was set back in 2011.

Boni on the other hand is perhaps more known for breaking records on two wheels, as he rode a Vespa for 24 hours a few years ago, only to realise he achieved a new distance record in the process.

During their new Guinness world record attempt they are believed to have overcome two punctures, which led to them swapping out the original bike for a reserve Ducati Scrambler Nightshift model. The average speed set by the two riders over the 24 hours was 60.9kmph (37.8mph).
