Honda’s first full-size production electric motorcycle, the WN7, has backed up its recent iF Design Award success by winning the most prestigious product design award from Red Dot.

The WN7 won the Gold Award in the second half of March, which is the highest honour in the product design discipline of the iF Design Award.

That achievement, together with its most recent win at the Red Dot awards, means the Honda WN7 has won two of the most prestigious product design awards in the space of one month.

However, the WN7 was not the only Honda product that won a Red Dot award, as the Uni-One mobility robot won the same “Best of the Best” award as the WN7.

The all-new Prelude specialty hybrid sports car and Miimo 150i/2200i robotic lawnmower were also named a Red Dot winner in the same competition.

The WN7, which is priced at £12,999 in the UK, produces 50kW (67bhp) of peak power, while also claiming to offer a range of up to 140km (around 87 miles), although the A1-licence version is bumped up to around 95 miles.

Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Design Center at Honda R&D Co., Ltd. Toshinobu Minami, said this about Honda’s ongoing streak of winning Red Dot awards:

“We are extremely honoured to receive the Red Dot awards for seven consecutive years. We believe that these awards reflect the fact that many people can relate to the passion of Honda to further enhance mobility and ease of everyday activities to make people’s daily lives more fun and enjoyable.

“Honda will continue to create new values that surprise and inspire people and provide the joy of expanding their life’s potential.”
