VALENTINO Rossi will be lining up against his old MotoGP rival Casey Stoner at Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.

Both riders will be back on track on MotoGP machinery to climb the hill at Goodwood for the Festival of Speed. It's likely to be a more sedate encounter than last time they both turned wheels in anger - the bikes times will not be recorded, which is probably just as well considering their past history.

Rossi will demonstrate his Yamaha YZR M1 on Sunday June 28 (the day after the Assen GP) and Stoner is representing Honda on an RC-213V.

The pair were close competitors throughout their MotoGP careers with the rivalry culminating in 2011 at Jerez when Rossi crashed and collected the Australian world champion. Stoner would later tell Rossi his ambition outweighed his talent.

The Italian nine times world champion is enjoying a renaissance in MotoGP and currently leads the championship standings, Stoner reitred from racing in 2012 but announced he would race at this year's Suzuka 8-hours.
