We’ve all seen that film with Anthony Hopkins about Kiwi land speed record racer Burt Munro (are we the only ones who get him mixed up with Rollie Free in his swimming trunks though?) The story of a home-brewed Indian Scout from New Zealand trying to get to Bonneville to set a new speed record is a corker of course. And now, Munro’s great-nephew, Lee Munro is trying to do something similar with a modern Indian.
He’s got a bit more help than his great uncle did though – Indian is backing the run, and has helped ‘refine’ the Indian Scout Streamliner Munro will ride at the 70thannual Bonnevill Speed Week later this week (August 11-17th). The Indian will run in the Modified Partial Streamliner 1350cc class, and is aiming to top 200mph.
