National Motorcycle Museum set to reopen in this May

The National Motorcycle Museum is set to reopen its doors to the public after successful raffle fundraising events

WE’VE long been fans of the National Motorcycle Museum (NMM) here at Visordown. We feel that the largest collection of British built bikes on the planet all under one roof is definitely something to hold dear.

But like all museums and galleries across the UK, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has nearly caused the vast collection to close its doors to the public for good.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel though, as, after the Government’s announcement of a ‘roadmap’ out of restrictions, the museum can once again accept visitors from May this year.

It’s not been easy though, with an initial application for emergency financial assistance being declined by the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage.

Not to be put off, the NMM launched fundraising raffles, giving away some stunning motorcycles. Thankfully this was enough to be able to gather the funds to reopen the massive collection.

Restrictions permitting, the museum collection, shop, and restaurant will reopen on Monday 17th May 2021, although it won’t open seven days a week. To do that, the NMM needs to fulfil it’s £500k reopening target, something it hopes to do by June 21st.

And you can still help, as the raffle to win either a stunning classic Triumph or a brand new Trident 660 in its latest raffle.

  • 1st Prize: Brand new 2021 Triumph Trident 660cc motorcycle.

Stunning new model donated by our friends at Triumph Motorcycles.

  • 2nd Prize: 1978 Triumph Trident T160 750cc motorcycle.

Low mileage and only one previous owner.

  • 3rd Prize: 1956 Triumph Tiger T100 500cc motorcycle.

Fresh from restoration in the museum’s workshop.

The prize draw for the “Triumph Over Adversity” appeal raffle will take place on Friday 25th June 2021 at The National Motorcycle Museum.

Tickets cost £6.00 each and can be purchased online by visiting www.thenmm.co.uk.
