FOLLOWING a month of public voting, Harley-Davidson’s Battle of the Kings competition has found itself five UK finalists.
In what is the fourth year of the contest and Harley-Davidson’s 115th Anniversary, 12,000 votes were cast for the 15 entries from the UK and Ireland.
The chosen five will now go forward to the final round of judging, which will be held at the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show this weekend.
Four of the winning machines were based on Harley’s popular Softail Street Bob, showing just how versatile this model can be.
The winning modded Street Bobs comprise: The Petrali Racer, customised by Michael Noble of Guildford H-D; Ottaway, customised by Maidstone H-D; The Edge, customised by Neil Sefton at Shaw H-D and Enlisted, customised by Fraser Hine at West Coast H-D.
Completing the five was Alley Rat, a Sportster Forty-Eight customised by Todd Meynell of Sycamore H-D.
Each year, Harley challenges its dealers to create the ultimate in custom machines, from a selection of standard models, comprising the Iron 883, Forty-Eight Roadster, Street 750, Street Rod, Street Bob and Fat Bob. With a strict budget of £5,500 – at least half of which must be spent on official Harley-Davidson parts and accessories – the dealers must create a unique, road-legal ‘Custom King’.
The competition is designed to not only highlight the extensive range of official H-D accessories available, but also the in-house dealer talent.
Following the judging at the London Motorcycle Show, the lucky finalist will go head-to-head against other national finalists in a Grand Final at EICMA 2018.
