Classic Legends Has Big Plans: New BSA, Jawa, and Yedzi, Bikes Incoming
Classic Legends is plotting its European and Asian expansion, with a raft of new motorcycles from BSA, Jawa, and Yedzi set to arrive

Classic Legends, which is a subsidiary of the giant Mahindra Group, is looking to the future, with reports pointing to four new models across the BSA, Jawa, and Yedzi marques.
The news comes from NDTV Auto, which put the question of new models to Classic Legends’ co-founder Anupam Thareja. In the interview, he revealed that “one [new] BSA, one [new] Jawa and two [new] Yezdi motorcycles are slated for a launch in the next six months”. While only one of those brands really matters to riders in the UK - and that’s BSA as it’s the only one we get here - Thareja’s next point about the overall direction of Classic Legends as a whole is very telling as to what the next BSA will be.
"Our lens is very clear, we are a classic adventure company,” he said, “we are not going to change that lens. Everything we do, will be from that lens.” With that in mind, it doesn’t take much crystal-ball gazing to figure out which bike BSA will be bringing to the UK.

At the tail end of 2022, BSA took a Scrambler 650 ‘concept’ to Motorcycle Live. It was loosely based on the Gold Star 650 - in that it had the same frame, engine, fuel tank and dash. But the chassis featured different suspension, wheels and bodywork. And it had a wholly different stance and aesthetic compared to the Gold Star. It’s a similar idea to the Bear 650 from Royal Enfield, in that they took the Interceptor 650 and scramblerfied it.

Should that be the model BSA is bringing out, it would be a very sensible move from the revived brand. Sure, the Gold Star is a great bike. It looks great, rides great and is priced extremely keenly. But the Gold Star was a bike for the rose-tinted glasses wearers. It was for those who long to own an original Gold Star, but can’t stump up the £20,000 price tag that they now command. The Scrambler should open the door to a new, quite possibly younger pool of riders.

But what about the other two brands? I hear you cry! Well, the Yezdi Roadster and Yezdi Scrambler are both due for an update and will likely be the two from that brand going into the pot. The Jawa is thought to be a new model created in the same way as the BSA Scrambler. Tellingly, Jawa doesn't have a rugged, light off-roader in its ranks. If Thareja’s "lens" is staying in focus, we'd expect the Jawa to be arriving with knobbly tyres, fork gaiters, and a high-level front mudguard.
