Aspar Raises over €150,500 for Valencia Flood Victims with Latest Efforts
Aspar continues its efforts to raise funds and aid the Valencia flood victims this week by delivering appliances to those affected in the area
The Moto2 and Moto3 team is based in the Valencia region, and has been instrumental in raising funds to help the victims of the floods which cost over 200 lives.
The latest efforts to help the victims have resulted in basic household appliance distributions. The devastating floods not only resulted in many deaths, but people losing their homes, and vehicles, while buildings and infrastructure were also damaged.
That was also the case for the access roads to the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, which was scheduled to host the 2024 MotoGP finale. The damage to the circuit was so bad, and with Dorna not wanting to take manpower away from relief efforts, it was eventually moved to Barcelona.
As part of its continued efforts, the Aspar team set up a GoFundMe page, which can be found here, and so far, €154,649 has been raised.
A statement from the team said: “The help that the motorcycling community continues to provide to those affected by the floods in Valencia is beginning to bear fruit. The Aspar Team has already begun the distribution of basic household appliances and furniture to families in Algemesí and Guadassuar, in the Ribera Alta region.
“This week, the team has begun the distribution of these needs that, thanks to the contributions that more than 2,300 people and companies have been making, will help more than a hundred families in these Valencian towns to recover at least a small part of their lives before the disaster.
“The fundraiser that the team started on November 1st with the collaboration of the Ángel Nieto Foundation, and together with direct donations from several World Championship riders and teams, has already reached more than 250,000 euros that will help facilitate the recovery of many affected families.”
As well as Aspar’s efforts, MotoGP recently staged a special auction to raise funds which included memorabilia such as a signed Valentino Rossi helmet and Maverick Vinales’s title-winning Moto3 bike, while the Assen TT circuit donated €50,000 along with Dorna donating €1 million.
