MV AGUSTA is recalling a large number of models due to a potential defect which could cause excess play in the fork and result in a crash.
The recall, which was announced last month, affects nine of the brands most popular models, and owners are advised not to ride them until the recall is complete.
A notice on the DfT’s official recall site reads: “Due to a production error there may be excessive play in the axial clamping screw on the forks. This could lead to a loss of control.”
Models affected comprise: the Brutale 800 RR (which we rode at launch earlier this year), the Brutale 800, the F3 800 RC, the F3 800, the F3 675, Brutale 800 RC, Brutale 800 Dragster RC, Brutale 800 Dragster RR and the RVS #1.
According to the recall notice, the affected vehicles were manufactured between the 12th March and 30th April this year.
The remedial action advised is to “check the threaded holes in the axle carriers with a special tool. If the nonconformity is present the fork leg with a defective axle carrier will be replaced”.
Due to the small manufacturing timescale and the rarity of MVs in the UK, the impact of this recall is likely to be minimal. However, if you are worried about your MV, you can view the full recall details here.
In other unusual recall news, Alta Motors has just announced a recall of certain 2019 Redshift MXR and EXR electric models due to a throttle firmware flaw which could cause a power cutout and potentially lead to a crash.
The 2019 Redshifts came out Stateside just two months ago, so only 215 motorcycles are affected by the recall, which will be resolved via a software update.
