2010 Most Important...Yamaha

The top bikes of 2010 from the Tuning Fork

Yamaha YZF-R6

Cost £8,999 Engine 599c inline four Power 126bhp Wet weight 185kg

The R6 gets very slight changes to its YCC-I intake funnels, a new exhaust and altered ECU mapping to match a tweaked airbox for 2010. With no new 600s for 2010 it’s very much status quo.

Yamaha XJ6 Diversion F

Yamaha XJ6 Diversion F

Cost £6,499 Engine 600cc inline four Power 76bhp Wet weight 218kg

The Diversion gets a full fairing and ABS and becomes the F. Adjustable handlebars and a decent sized screen, not to mention a competitive price, should make this a hit with commuters.

Yamaha FZ8 & Fazer8

Yamaha FZ8 & Fazer8

Cost £7,000 (est) Engine 799cc inline four Power 130bhp (est) Wet weight 190kg (est)

With an 800cc engine capacity the Yamaha's FZ8 and Fazer8 have stepped up from the middle class to create a new light heavyweight class of their own, minus the clunky exhaust both of the machines have been built with an air of quality and are a pleasure to ride.

Yamaha Fazer & FZ1

Yamaha Fazer & FZ1

Cost £10,399 (FZ1 £9,399 ) Engine 998cc inline four Power 148bhp Wet weight 214kg

Very minor changes to the large capacity Fazers for 2010. Both models get updated ECUs with revised maps to smooth throttle response and that’s about it.

Yamaha Super Ténéré 1200

Yamaha Super Ténéré 1200

Cost £10,000 (est) Engine 1200cc parallel twin Power 120bhp (est) Wet weight 205kg (est)

First unveiled as a concept bike at the Tokyo bike show the Super Ténéré 1200 looked like it belonged in the desert with it's head scarf inspired cowl. The finished model is more generic looking with a parallel twin and a 270-degree crank which gives it a bit of engine character, shaft-drive and traction control to take on BMW's class conquering GS.
