Overall Review

This bike is a seminal work in production superbikes. It is the fastest bike in the class and the easiest to use. It has technology that makes it more enjoyable and safer to use. It is a must ride bike.

Strengths

Looks unusual but interesting. Utterly ballistic engine. Fantastic ride and handling, which is comfortable, compliant and taught. The technology does not get in the way but is reassuring. It feels nearly as special as an Italian but is priced competitively and built very well.

Weaknesses

It does not sounds that good. The in-line four is like the Jap rivals which means that it is not as charismatic as the Italians. The vibrations are one of the few problems.

Overall Review

Rightly so this bike has moved the bar yet again in the highly competative Superbike class. With its Technical advances and outright power it leads the way for out of the crate performance and at a respectable price. Don't be put off by the brand image or it's contraversial looks, take one for a test ride and experiance the sheer ease at which the bike handles and performs. As an owner of a beautiful Thunder Grey(Black) sports version with a few extras i kind of hope it doesn't sell as well as its Japanese competitors, but that is purely for a selfish reason and the exclusivity it has at the moment, but i know it will sell and sell very well. If you are looking for a truly amazing performance fuelled ride then this has to be on the top of your demo list. Ok so not the flair of an Italian Ducati or MV but having owned a 1098 prior to this i can safely say i am over the feel the V-Twin gave me and i'm relishing the years ahead with a truly outstanding piece of machinery.

Strengths

Typical german engineering along with japanese beating performance all in one package. The handeling is very R6 style with slightly more room and the performance is full on Superbike. Technology is to the fore with Traction control ABS and a wonderful quickshifter, which does not unsettle the bike mid corner whilst changing gear. You can turn the Traction and ABS off if you wish, but why would you? Suspension is easy to adjust with some settings provided by the manufacturer. The styling is possibly contraversial but it does make the bike stand out from similar styled Japanese Sports bikes.

Weaknesses

You find yourself explaining to people that the BMW you have just bought is not the same as Charlie and Ewan's and is in fact a full on Superbike. The storage area in the rear seat is as with all Superbikes tiny, mine is even more so with the optional alarm fitted. Styling also fits in this section, it's a bit marmite, you either love it or hate it. Maybe a tad too much plastic around the tank area but once again that personal.

Engine, ABS and DTC which are great to help me climb the track ladder. Styling is a differentiator Position, awkward at first becomes natural the more you move on the bike.

Weaknesses

a little dip in the torque curve between 5 and 7K

Overall Review

I had one. Loved it and ultimately sold it for two reasons:- 1) The power and speed pile on so effortlessly I was in constant danger of losing my license 2) It lacked any sexiness or bastardry. It's simply so good that it's a little..well..boring. Having said all of that I may well buy another one for a track bike.

Strengths

Endless power in one long stream Seating Position Quickshifter is amazing Best gearbox I've ever felt Handles beautifully Great wheelies

Weaknesses

This is going to sound stupid...but it's got no soul. It's precision German engineering done to it's finest. Oh...and it's too quiet. You have to wait until you run it in to access slick mode! The speed you can do with the front in the air

Overall Review

More bike than you will ever need on the street, it really doesn't belong there, it belongs on the track. But, that's the fun! You will laugh out loud everytime you work it from first to fourth with the front wheel hovering 3 inches off the ground! Smoothness, handling, and power couldn't be better!

Strengths

Great ergos, superb handling, outrageous power, easily adjusted suspension, and fit and finish out of this world.

Weaknesses

Stock Metzeler K3's suck, Dunlop Q2's much better! Stock springs are for light little girls, and not men. Luckily, Ohlins springs are about $148 for all 3! Ugly chamber underneath, and Kickstand is loose even though I am out of the recall numbers.Even though the ergos are really good, the pegs are still a tad too high.

Overall Review

Insane bike with unbelievable power. Great handling and closest I've come to knee down on the road.

Strengths

That engine! Turbine like power everywhere. The only bike I've owned where you feel that you actually need the power modes.

Weaknesses

Crap sidestand! Sits the bike too upright. An accident waiting to happen. Quickshifter not as smooth as the one I had on my Bazzaz system on my 08 R1.

Overall Review

Highly recommended if you want efficient, effortless speed. Not as much soul as some might like, especially if you are a v-twin rider, but for the track it is a serious weapon. gave up riding mine on the road after 2000 miles, it is just wasted on public highways.

Strengths

Compared to any Japanese bike, the Srr is very well put together. As is well documented, the power is superb and delivered effortlessly. I have 192bhp at the rear wheel with no modifications. There is the normal mid-range dip which needs an exhaust and PCV or similar to sort. The riding position is extremely comfortable for most - I have done two 1000 mile/week journeys and had no problems at all.

Weaknesses

The quickshifter is poor and even normal gear selection has problems. I have had to replace the detent spring for an aftermarket one and BMW gave me a refund on my quickshifter when we proved that it was unable to select 6th. We tested it against a dealer bike which had the same exact problem, so this is not specific to my bike. This is a problem that you get at 150mph+ on track, so it won't trouble most. Suspension is poor. After 2000miles I was out of adjustment, a set of Ohlins cartridges and a shock solved the issue. Budget suspension from the factory,
