‘Adventure’ is a broad term, applied to all kinds of activities in all kinds of ways. Parenting is an adventure. Taking the last train home on a Friday night is an adventure. Walking the West Highland Way is an adventure.

So, sure, Watsonian Sidecars isn’t wrong when it says its latest outfit, attached to a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, is “for the adventurous.”

Why not? Going slow can be an adventure. Avoiding all but the smoothest of gravel roads can be an adventure. And you’ll look kind of cool doing it. Or, at least, unique.

“Designed for riders who want to cover distances and maximise luggage carrying capacity,” according to Watsonian, the rig is a pairing of Royal Enfield’s popular parallel twin and Watsonian’s “Grand Prix” model of sidecar.

To give it an extra air of adventure, the bike has been fitted with Heidenau enduro tyres and the go-to adventure accoutrements of fly screen, handguards, and a headlight grille.

Watsonian has been building sidecars since 1912, presenting designs that are now pretty much iconic. Its customers usually provide their own bikes for transformation - meaning you could definitely own a rig with more zoom if you wanted it.

If you’re happy with keeping things leisurely, however, this outfit has been sprayed in Nardo Grey. And, according to Watsonian, “the sidecar has been treated to non-standard black alloy beading, screen surround, perimeter frame bumper, and wheel rim.

It also features several specially-designed accessories;

  • A pair of 5-litre jerry cans, mounted in carriers that are bolted to brackets on the sidecar frame
  • Spotlight, wired into a switch on the handlebars
  • Extra large front luggage rack
  • Two extra large rear luggage racks
  • Twin 12V sockets with a map reading light in one
  • Passenger grab rail
  • Block pattern Kenda tyre”

Watsonian is unclear about the cost of this exact outfit, but says that the starting price for this pairing is £17,995. That’s for the bike in its original colours and a black sidecar. Want it in different colours? Talk to Watsonian.
