A 70 YEAR-OLD man from Arbroath, Angus was caught riding at speeds of 138mph in March of last year on the A933, a 60mph zone.

The court heard last week that pensioner Peter Elliot Farquhar, a retired painter, has held a clean licence for 54 years.

His friend Roy Buick McPhee, a forklift truck driver, was also caught riding at speeds of nearly 100mph through 30mph roads. The pair were pursued by police and failed to stop when asked to do so by police.

Both men have admitted various counts of dangerous driving and refusing to stop, they will be sentenced of March 31st. The pair have been disqualified from riding while they await sentence, luckily for the people of Arbroath!
