The former TT racer and TV presenter, Guy Martin, has been banned from driving for six months, following two speeding offences.

As reported by the BBC, Martin has admitted to riding his bike at 46mph on the A50 near Leicester when the limit was 40mph, and going at 78mph along the A43 when a temporary 50mph limit was in place. It appears that on both occasions, the 17-time Isle of Man TT podium finisher was caught by speed cameras.

The BBC goes on to report that the first speeding offence was on July 15 while riding a Honda, while the second offence happened on March 19. The second offence is said to have happened on the A43 while Martin was riding near to HS2 roadworks - hence the temporary 50 mph speed limit.

The case for the Lincolnshire rider was heard in private by a Magistrate at Loughborough Magistrates' Court last week. Martin was sentenced to pay a total of £1,329 in fines, costs and victim surcharges.

Speaking via his lawyers, Martin is said to “not be opposing the totting up six-month disqualification”, with the law firm going on to say that he “apologises to the court for his offending.”

Guy Martin contested the Isle of Man TT event from 2003 to 2015, and again in 2017. He amassed 17 podium finishes in his TT career. Following his exit from road racing in 2017, Martin began his TV career in earnest, while also taking on a host of UK and international world records.
