Sidi reveals Mag-2 Air boots for track
Built for those who like to go very fast, Sidi’s new trackday boots promise to be lightweight and breathable.

The Taurus GTX wasn’t the only brand-new boot unveiled by Sidi this week. The Italian brand has also pulled the cover off its new Mag-2 Air, which it says is “developed on the track and built for speed.”
Pitched as lightweight and breathable, the boots are laser focused on the interests of sportbike riders.
“The new Sidi Mag-2 Air delivers MotoGP®-level performance,” declares a media release. “[They feature] the same cutting-edge technology trusted at the highest levels of competition.”
Right now might seem like a slightly odd time to purchase these boots, as they are designed with “maximum airflow for warm-weather riding,” but put them on your Christmas wish list and you won’t have that long to wait before decent weather returns.

“A ventilated sole and breathable microfiber upper regulate temperature and reduce heat build-up, keeping riders cool and focused, whether on the road or at the circuit,” explains a Sidi media release. “The Mag-2 Air is built for riders who demand uncompromising performance and Italian craftsmanship.”
The boots look robust, with impact protection coming from an integrated protector shield that Sidi says is designed to absorb shock without restricting movement or feel. A fibreglass-reinforced nylon exoskeleton is also there to add stability.
The boots are secured via a “NUUN 002M dial closure system” – what most people would call boa laces – which help to finetune fit and make getting the boot off and on a little easier.

“The sculpted chassis and flat inner profile support natural movement and confident control,” says Sidi. While a Concrecto sole “provides a direct, responsive feel from bike to boot.”
Concrecto is a compound that, as best we can tell, is a creation of Sidi. Why the company would choose to give its boot soles a name that is so very close to the Italian word for concrete (concreto), is beyond us. I mean, If you’re wearing concrete shoes you’ve clearly encountered the wrong group of Italians.
The Max-2 Air boots are available at Sidi outlets now, with a suggested retail price of £419.99.
