Fogarty confirmed for Classic TT parade laps

On a Honda RC30 Foggy will ride in the Joey Dunlop 'Rivals' Parade Lap'

FOUR times World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty has confirmed he will be attending and riding in the 2014 Classic TT for two parade laps.

Carl 'Foggy' Fogarty will be riding a Honda RC30 in the 'Joey Dunlop Road Racing Legend - The Rivals' Parade Lap' on Saturday, August 23rd and a Ducati for the 'Classic Racer Magazine Classic TT Lap of Honour' on the following Monday, August 25th.

The 49-year-old is fairly familiar with the Mountain circuit after winning the Newcomers Manx Grand Prix race in 1985 as well as three Isle of Man TT wins and seven podiums between 1986 and 1992.

Speaking about returning to the famous Mountain course, Fogarty said: “The Isle of Man holds a special place in my heart and I have said many times before that it was that part of my career which I look back on with the most happiness and pride.

"I can’t wait to see the new Classic TT event for myself after hearing good things about last year's first event and I am particularly excited to be part of the tribute to Joey Dunlop.

"Joey was a special rider and someone I looked up to and wanted to beat in those early World Championship years.”

To add to his list of achievements on the Isle of Man, Fogarty also set an outright lap record in 1992 of 122.61mph on a Yamaha 750cc which wasn't broken until seven year later by Jim Moodie.
